BUSINESS OWNER’S POLICY INSURANCE IN ST. CHARLES, MO
Bundle more. Customize more. Protect your business for less.
Why purchase multiple business insurance policies separately when many of the coverages your business needs can be packaged together?
A Business Owner’s Policy or BOP combines core coverages like General Liability, Commercial Property, and Business Income into one policy. From there, it can often be customized with additional coverages and endorsements based on how your business actually operates.
The result? Broader protection, fewer separate policies to manage, and often a lower overall cost than purchasing comparable coverages à la carte.
What Does a Business Owner’s Policy Actually Cover?
A BOP isn’t simply General Liability with a few extras attached.
It’s designed to bring several important business coverages together into one package and then give us the ability to customize that package around your operations. It is important to note that NOT ALL businesses can qualify for a Business Owners’ Policy (BOP).
General Liability
Protection against certain third-party bodily injury, property damage, and personal or advertising injury claims.
Commercial Property
Coverage for eligible buildings, furniture, equipment, inventory, and other business property.
Business Income
Helps replace covered lost income and certain continuing expenses when a covered property loss interrupts your operations.
Then Build From There
There are additional coverages that can be bolted onto your business owner's policy at a reduced rate such as Workers' Compensation Insurance, Professional Liability Insurance, Commercial Auto Insurance, Cyber Insurance and much more.
Why Buy Everything À La Carte If You Don't Have To?
Buying General Liability, Commercial Property, and other business coverages individually can mean managing multiple standalone policies and potentially paying more for comparable protection.
A BOP allows eligible businesses to bundle core coverages into one policy, which can often make the overall insurance program more cost-effective than purchasing comparable property and liability coverage separately.
But the real advantage isn’t simply saving money.
It’s being able to build one coordinated insurance package around the business.
For a deeper breakdown of how these policies work, we’ve also put together our Ultimate Guide to Business Owner’s Policies.
HIGHLY CUSTOMIZABLE DOESN'T MEAN UNLIMITED.
A BOP can do a lot, but certain exposures are better handled elsewhere in the insurance program.
You Own Company Vehicles
A BOP isn’t a substitute for properly structured Commercial Auto Insurance. If your company owns trucks, vans, cars, or other vehicles or employees regularly drive in connection with the business we need to evaluate the auto exposure separately.
You Have Employees
A customer’s injury and an employee’s workplace injury are two very different exposures. That’s where Workers’ Compensation Insurance comes into the overall program.
You Sell Your Expertise
General Liability and Professional Liability aren’t interchangeable. If customers rely on your advice, designs, recommendations, consulting, or professional services, Professional Liability Insurance may need to sit alongside the BOP.
You Need More Liability
For businesses with larger liability exposures, we may also need to evaluate an additional layer of Commercial Umbrella or Excess Liability above eligible underlying policies.
Commercial Package policy vs. Business Owners Policy (BOP)
Think of a Commercial Package Policy as a stereo system where you buy each component individually. So you would buy the receiver, speakers, remote, and every other part and accessory separate from each other.
In contrast, a BOP policy is much like a stereo-in-a-box. All of the pieces you need come pre-packaged.

Business Owner's Policy Insurance Questions, Answered
Frequently Asked Questions
A Business Owner’s Policy can simplify business insurance by bundling several important coverages into one customizable package. Here are answers to eight of the questions business owners ask most often about BOP insurance.
What does a Business Owner’s Policy (BOP) cover?
A BOP typically combines General Liability, Commercial Property, and Business Income coverage into one policy. From there, it can often be customized with additional coverages and endorsements based on your business, industry, and carrier.
For a deeper breakdown, explore our Ultimate Guide to Business Owner’s Policies.
Is a BOP cheaper than buying business insurance separately?
It can be. One of the biggest advantages of a BOP is the ability to bundle eligible business coverages together rather than purchasing comparable protection à la carte.
Bundling can create pricing efficiencies while also making the insurance program easier to manage. The key is making sure you’re comparing the coverage inside the package, not just the price.
Can a Business Owner’s Policy be customized?
Yes and that’s one of the biggest benefits of a BOP.
Depending on the carrier and business, you may be able to add coverage for exposures such as Equipment Breakdown, Water Backup, Crime, Cyber or Data Breach, Ordinance or Law, Hired & Non-Owned Auto, and more.
Available options vary by carrier, state, industry, and individual risk.
Does a BOP cover my building, equipment, and inventory?
It can. Commercial Property coverage within a BOP can protect eligible buildings and Business Personal Property such as furniture, equipment, inventory, and supplies against covered losses.
If your business owns the building itself, there are additional considerations involving replacement cost, valuation, wind and hail, deductibles, and other property exposures. Learn more about Commercial Property Insurance.
Does a BOP cover lost income if my business has to close?
Business Income coverage can help replace covered lost income and certain continuing expenses when a covered property loss forces your business to temporarily suspend operations.
That’s important because repairing the physical damage is only part of recovery. Rent, payroll, loan payments, and other expenses may continue even when revenue stops.
Does a BOP cover company vehicles?
Generally, company-owned cars, trucks, vans, and other business vehicles require dedicated Commercial Auto coverage rather than relying on the core BOP.
If your company owns vehicles or employees regularly drive for business learn more about Commercial Auto Insurance.
Does a BOP include Workers’ Compensation or Professional Liability?
Generally, these exposures need to be evaluated separately.
Workers’ Compensation addresses covered employee work-related injuries and illnesses, while Professional Liability addresses certain claims arising from professional services, advice, or errors and omissions.
Learn more about E3’s Workers’ Compensation Insurance and Professional Liability Insurance.
How much does a Business Owner’s Policy cost?
There isn’t one standard price. BOP premiums can be influenced by your industry, location, revenue, payroll, property values, building characteristics, claims history, coverage limits, deductibles, and the endorsements added to the package.
Bundling can help reduce the cost compared with purchasing certain coverages separately, but the goal should be to build the right package first, then compare the price.
